The 1907 Double Eagle Liberty Head is a $20 gold coin featuring the classic design by James B. Longacre. The obverse depicts Lady Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with "LIBERTY," while the reverse showcases a heraldic eagle, symbolizing strength and freedom.
Graded NGC MS-61, this coin is in Mint State condition, meaning it has not been heavily circulated but may show some light imperfections such as contact marks, scratches, or other minor surface flaws typical of coins in this grade. MS-61 coins retain much of their original luster but exhibit visible signs of handling that prevent them from achieving a higher grade.
The 1907 Double Eagle is historically significant as it is one of the final years of the Liberty Head design before being replaced by the Saint Gaudens design in the same year. While it is relatively more common than other dates in the Liberty Head series, it remains a valuable coin for collectors due to its design and gold content. The MS-61 grade offers an opportunity for collectors to acquire a well-preserved example of this important U.S. coin.
